This cel was actually a wishlist of mine. It’s such a great scene, and also the key happening that eventually made Izu do what he did later on.

Here, he’s making his way up the stairs to reach the wheel that operates the Itha flood gates. They were opened by a Paro spy in an attempt to flood the city and start a war. The rushing water is giving him a hard time. 

I have a thing for cels of main characters where they look different than normal. Like with wet hair, totally out of character or when they wear something out of the ordinary. Izu with wet hair, dripping with water was definitely an eye catcher for me, so cels from this scene would be wonderful to have.

When I came across this cel on another collector’s site I could hardly believe it! I contacted the cel owner and made an inquiry whether or not she was willing to sell or trade. It took us a little while, but eventually we figured out a the trade which left us both happy. Win-win. 

This cel has the original matching background, which is actually pretty rare for Windaria cels.  Sadly, it doesn’t have the douga, but, as many Windaria cels, it’s in great condition and that’s also an indication of the quality of the movie and the art work. 

I’m absolutely thrilled to have this beauty in my collection.
